Information on electrical and electronic (old) appliances for commercial users

In the following, we would like to inform you about the most important requirements for handling electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG).

1. general information on disposal

  • Old appliances must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste in special collection and return systems.
  • Waste batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the waste appliance, as well as lamps that can be removed from the waste appliance without destroying them, must generally be separated from the waste appliance before being handed in at a collection point. This does not apply if waste appliances are prepared for reuse with the involvement of a public waste management authority.
  • The symbol of a crossed-out dustbin usually shown on the appliances indicates that the appliance must not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste.

2. information on the possibility for end users to return old appliances

Information on the fulfillment of the quantitative targets for old appliances according to §§ 10 para. 3, 22 para. 1 ElektroG can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry for the Environment (“Statistics”).

3. information on data protection

Each end user is responsible for deleting data from old devices.
